About the Artist: Jeanette Korab

 Jeanette Korab

Jeanette Korab is an accomplished and multi-faceted artist with a remarkable career that spans the globe. A native of South Dakota, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the prestigious Stephens College in Missouri and continued her education with graduate studies at Texas Woman's University. Her career has been distinguished by a global perspective, teaching at the American Fashion College of Switzerland in Lucerne and refining her craft in renowned artistic hubs such as Santa Fe, New Mexico; Venice and Tuscany, Italy; Paris, Giverny, and Versailles, France; as well as Spain.

Korab’s journey in the arts began in fashion. After graduating from Stephens College, she transitioned from student to instructor, teaching in Switzerland. She later returned to Dallas and launched a career in fashion photography during the 1980s. Her camera captured industry icons like Edith Head and Karl Lagerfeld, and she also photographed a young Jan Strimple before her rise to supermodel stardom.

Despite her early success, Korab temporarily set aside her artistic pursuits to support her late husband, Vladimir Gorsky, a celebrated international artist. Together, they focused on promoting his work through Gorsky Fine Art, a venture that flourished under their combined efforts. After Vladimir’s passing following a two-year battle with brain cancer, Jeanette found solace and renewal in returning to her own creative work, marking the relaunch of her career.

As the years passed, Jeanette’s focus shifted to painting, where her latent talent emerged on canvas in grand fashion. She produced haunting photorealistic vignettes of Carnival in Venice and lush, fantasy botanicals, with each piece reflecting her international experiences and deep connection to the locales that inspired them. Her artistic vision, profoundly influenced by her travels throughout Europe, resonates on a deeply emotional level with viewers, showcasing her ability to draw inspiration from the world’s most breathtaking destinations.

One of her most memorable artistic journeys took place in Paris. After painting the Eiffel Tower, photographing Notre Dame, and viewing art at the Louvre, Jeanette was drawn to the city's fashion scene. She began her exploration with the Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Captivated by the exhibit, she imagined herself embarking on a voyage around the world with one of Jacobs’ iconic steamer trunks. This experience deepened her appreciation for Louis Vuitton's designs, revealing the history, consistency of style, and perfection of execution that define the brand. It was during this time of window shopping at various galleries and boutiques that Jeanette spotted the classic stiletto that would later be featured in her "Paris 2012" art series.

Today, Jeanette Korab's art prints, inspired by her travels and experiences in Paris, are available for purchase at Fabrication Street, showcasing her creative prowess and the depth of inspiration drawn from the world's most glamorous destinations.
